Product Description

Self-contained heated gravity fed eyewash solutions are ideal for facilities and work areas where plumbed potable water is not readily available and freeze protection is a concern. Encon’s Heated Gravity Fed Eyewash provides dependable emergency flushing capability with an insulated jacket, integrated heating system, and the same practical self-contained design used for remote locations, temporary job sites, maintenance areas, and other applications without permanent plumbing.

This heated gravity fed eyewash is designed to maintain water temperature in the tank near 85°F (29°C) to help prevent cold water shock to the user. The unit features a high-visibility yellow polyethylene tank, enclosed dual-stream eyewash heads, and a waterproof insulated jacket for use in demanding environments where temperature control and self-contained operation are both important.

Tank

High-visibility yellow polyethylene tank with two rugged carrying handles for easier transport and relocation. The tank provides a dependable self-contained source of flushing fluid for areas where plumbed potable water is not available.

Insulated Jacket

Waterproof, high-visibility insulation jacket constructed of PVC-coated nylon, Thinsulate™ insulation, and PVC lining. The insulated jacket helps protect the stored flushing fluid and supports heated operation in cold environments.

Tray & Nozzles

Enclosed corrosion-resistant ABS plastic dual-stream eyewash heads help protect against airborne contaminants when the unit is in the ready position. The pull-down tray activates the eyewash flow and allows full user access to the flushing streams during use.

Heating System

The integrated heater is designed to maintain water temperature in the tank near 85°F (29°C) to help reduce the risk of cold water shock. The unit has been tested to -20°F (-29°C) when operated under the required conditions. Indicator lights on the junction box provide operating status for power, heater activity, low temperature, and high temperature or low water level conditions.

Performance

This model is a portable 14-gallon self-contained heated gravity fed eyewash designed for locations where plumbed potable water is not available. The heated and insulated configuration helps maintain a safer flushing temperature while preserving the practicality of a self-contained emergency eyewash station.

Electrical

Voltage: 120 VAC
Frequency: 60 Hz
Phase: Single phase
Maximum current: 3.5 amps

The unit is supplied with a 9′ heavy-duty SOW 16/3 cord without an electrical plug. The appropriate 3-pronged male plug or other acceptable connection must be supplied and installed by others in accordance with local electrical codes and site requirements.

Area Classification

Suitable for use in NEMA 4 rated or Class 1, Division 2, Group B, C, D electrically classified areas. The installation area should be evaluated for electrical classification hazard potential, and the proper connection method should be selected by qualified personnel.

Water Treatment Additive

Hydrosep® water preservative is supplied with the unit. Follow Hydrosep® directions when filling, cleaning, or refilling the tank as part of routine maintenance of the self-contained eyewash station. For replacement or routine maintenance, see Hydrosep® 8 oz bottles (pack of 4).

Applications

This heated gravity fed eyewash is well suited for outdoor service areas, remote industrial locations, temporary work zones, maintenance operations, and other environments where self-contained emergency eyewash coverage is required and freeze protection is needed. It is a practical option when plumbed water is unavailable and ambient conditions make temperature maintenance important.

Activation & Use

The unit is activated by pulling down the eyewash tray. The enclosed eyewash heads help protect the nozzles before use, while the self-contained tank and heated assembly support emergency response readiness in cold-weather applications.

Installation Notes

Adequate wall support or a shelf is recommended. When filled to capacity, unit weight exceeds 135 lbs (61 kg). For wall-mounted installations, a lag bolt is required for proper installation and is not included. The eyewash heads should be positioned 33″ to 45″ from the floor.

Important Electrical Note

Because the unit is supplied without a plug, the installer must provide the proper electrical connection method acceptable to local electrical codes and authorities. To help prevent shock hazard, use only with a ground fault circuit interrupter.
