Encon’s line of Laboratory and Barrier-Free safety equipment is built to the same high standards of quality and innovation as our industrial emergency products, optimized for limited space and multi-use work areas. Encon manufactures a wide range of laboratory solutions that meet or exceed ANSI Z358.1 requirements for eyewash and drench hose performance, with options for both hand-held and hands-free operation. Barrier-Free wall-mounted eyewash units and combination shower/eyewash stations are wheelchair accessible, supporting safety programs where rapid irrigation and dilution of exposed tissue is critical for a full 15-minute treatment period.
The Encon Swing Away® Counter-Top Eyewash (01040128) is an emergency eyewash station designed to mount at the side of a laboratory sink and rotate over the basin for use. The unit is specified as third-party certified to ANSI Z358.1 and specified to deliver 2.4 gpm (9.1 lpm) at 30–70 psi flowing pressure. Use it where a sink-mounted eyewash supports fast access, controlled drainage, and repeatable weekly activation as part of a lab safety program.
Highlights
The Encon specification sheet states the unit is third party certified to ANSI Z358.1. Keep the current spec and IOM with your eyewash inspection and documentation records.
The IOM describes rotating the eyewash heads 90° over the sink, which opens the valve and starts water flow. Rotating back to the stored position stops flow.
The specification sheet lists 2.4 gpm (9.1 lpm) at 30–70 psi flowing pressure, using self-adjusting regulators.
The specification sheet states the unit includes a right-hand countertop actuator and can be set up for left-hand mounting by reversing the swing stop. The IOM includes orientation change steps.
The IOM states plumbed units should be activated weekly to flush lines and verify proper flow pattern and volume, and that test records should be maintained.
