Encon’s Combination Emergency Shower and Eyewash Equipment provides the user with both a full body penetration as well as a localized orbital area coverage in one station. They feature self-regulating, fully dispersed, flow patterns from the eyewash, facewash, and shower heads. Encon’s unique design also ensures that the flow of fluids is non-injurious; covering body and facial regions while utilizing varying hydraulic pressures from the water supply source.
The Encon 01050272 wheelchair accessible combination shower and eyewash is a floor-mounted, plumbed emergency fixture that combines a 30 gpm overhead drench shower with a dual-stream eyewash in a type 304 stainless steel bowl. This ANSI-certified unit is configured for accessible use and is built with schedule 80 hot dip galvanized steel piping, chrome-plated bronze stay-open ball valves, and stainless steel actuators with clear actuation graphics.
This unit uses schedule 80 hot dip galvanized steel piping with a flanged floor mounting plate for free-standing installation. The shower valve is 1 in. and the eyewash valve is 1/2 in., both supplied as chrome-plated bronze stay-open ball valves with chrome-plated balls and stainless steel valve stems. Stainless steel actuators with actuation graphics are provided for both the shower and the eyewash.
The eyewash assembly includes acetal dual-stream heads with integral hinged covers mounted on a chrome-plated brass wye and set in a type 304 stainless steel bowl. The showerhead is manufactured from UV-resistant yellow ABS plastic for high visibility in emergency-use areas.
The overhead shower delivers 30 gpm (113.6 lpm) through a self-adjusting regulator. The eyewash delivers 2.4 gpm (9.1 lpm) total through dual spray heads with self-adjusting flow regulation to maintain an even, non-injurious flushing pattern across 30–70 psi (206.8–482.6 kPa). The showerhead is designed to produce a minimum 20 in. diameter pattern at a point 60 in. above standing level. The unit provides flushing performance for 15 minutes or longer as required by ANSI Z358.1.
This wheelchair accessible combination unit is suited for industrial, process, utility, and plant environments where both full-body drenching and immediate eye flushing may be required and an accessible emergency station layout is needed.
